Welcome!

This year marks the fifteenth annual Minot Prairie Quilt Festival and you’re invited to help us celebrate. We hope you will take advantage of the many classes, lectures and demonstrations as you meet old friends and make new ones.

This year we are excited to welcome back Harriet Hargrave as one of our national teachers. Harriet is a pioneer of machine quilting and will be sharing her wealth of knowledge in a two-day class on the Basics of Machine Quilting as well as a class on Machine Appliqué Techniques. We are proud to welcome noted quilt maker and designer Debbie Caffrey who will offer classes from her popular “Can of Worms” , “Power Cutting, Too”, as well as her “Classy Patterns “ line. Debbie will also be the speaker at this year’s banquet, so you will want to be sure to get your reservations in early. This year’s judge is Kate Eelkema from St Paul, Minnesota, who will be offering tips and sharing new techniques.

We have two new judging awards this year. One is for all of you Dick and Jane lovers. You can enter any size quilt into this category as long as it features Dick and Jane material. This is a one-time only event, so you won’t want to
 miss your chance to enter. The other is the Teachers’ Choice Award and the winner will be selected by this year’s national teachers. Be sure to read over the categories closely this year, as some of the sizes have been changed.

Registration will open earlier this year at 11:00 and the Merchant Mall/Quilt Show will open at 12:00 on Friday to allow you to purchase needed supplies prior to the classes. The Merchant Mall will feature friendly vendors with everything you will need from patterns and material, to samples and advice.

Our featured quilter this year is Sally Mosser. Sally has served the guild in a variety of capacities, most notably as President and Festival Chair. We look forward to featuring her fine talents.

That brings us to our most important piece of Festival—YOU! It wouldn’t be the same without you. We thank you for your past support and look forward to future Festivals. Next year’s will be held March 20-22, 2009 and we hope you will mark it on your calendars.
